Abstract:

As enterprises accelerate their digital transformation journeys, hybrid clouds have emerged as a strategic imperative enabling flexibility, scalability, and resilience across IT environments.

This IBM® Redbooks® publication explains how IBM Power11™ systems support hybrid cloud deployments with enterprise-grade performance, security, and automation.

The book begins by defining hybrid cloud in the context of IBM Power11 and explores its strategic relevance for modern organizations. It introduces IBM Power Virtual Server

(PowerVS) as a key enabler of hybrid architecture, allowing seamless workload mobility between on-premises and cloud environments. The book examines core principles in depth, including workload portability, zero downtime, intelligent resource management, and AI-ready infrastructure.

Subsequent chapters present reference architectures, integration patterns with public clouds, and deployment models that use Red Hat OpenShift, IBM watsonx®, and IBM Cloud Pak for Data. The book also covers hybrid consumption models, migration strategies, and real-world

use cases that demonstrate the business value of hybrid cloud on Power11.

The book addresses security, compliance, and governance with a focus on workload isolation, encryption, and quantum-safe cryptography. Finally, the publication highlights client success stories and future trends, providing guidance for organizations seeking to modernize with confidence in a hybrid multi-cloud world.

This Redbooks publication is intended for IT architects, system administrators, and decision-makers planning, designing, or implementing hybrid cloud solutions on IBM Power11.
